The Burela Slim sneakers by Flamingos Life are wonderfully light and supple. The upper is made of 70% corn waste and 30% cotton, the lining is bamboo-based and the rubber soles are part natural, part synthetic. The insoles are loose and therefore easily replaceable.

Spain's Flamingos Life was founded in 2015 with the goal of saving millions of animals killed by the fashion industry to make shoes. Instead of using conventional materials in the shoe industry, they work to develop plant-based and biodegradable materials. In addition, the use of recycled polyester contributes to a more sustainable future by reducing plastic waste and promoting the development of a circular economy.
Radical transparency is the fundamental axis of the organization to expose the hidden truth of the fashion industry and make the entire supply chain more democratic. Together with sustainable fashion consulting firm BCOME, they analyze production processes and measure carbon footprints with the aim of giving customers real and clear information about the entire supply chain.
Flamingos Life works with NGOs on a water supply project in remote areas of Uganda and reforestation projects with local people in devastated areas around the world.

The packaging is 100%  recycled cardboard.
